The Bornhold Haus designed by Kitzmann Architekten is located on the Neuer Wall, one of the high-quality shopping streets of Hamburg's old town in Germany. The commercial building, housing office and retail space, has a staggered storey architecture which allowed for terraces and courtyards in the upper floors.
The natural stone cladding made of limestone makes up the façade coupled with slim, floor-to-ceiling bronze framed windows in deep recesses. As a result, the façade appears quiet and closed from the street, despite the large windows. The design of the construction bronze profiles used is based on the classic wood-aluminium systems MIRA and LARA GF Curtain wall from GUTMANN. A total of 1544 m² of window area including frames and sashes were covered with architectural bronze profiles.
The Bornhold-haus radiates elegance with its high-quality material and workmanship; the building bronze and glass are predominant and stand out against the light natural colour of the limestone. GUTMANN offers maintenance-free and weather-resistant copper metal natural bronze. The Lara GF mullion-transom glazing system provides ample daylight in the interiors on 536 m². The same surface in construction bronze adorns 1,560 m² of wooden window surfaces of the Mira system with a surface-offset look.
