High on the Kandel Mountain at 1,241m lies the Bergwelt Kandel resort overlooking the Black Forest, the Vosges and the Swiss Alps. The Bergwelt Kandel was designed with modern mountain/alpine architecture in 2021 by Architect Michael Jenewein to give justice to the spectacular view from the top of the mountain. The Bergwelt Kandel Hotel utilizes timber construction of local silver fir and includes a restaurant with a vantage view overlooking the forests and mountains, a beer garden, guest rooms and two suites. Additionally, an event location which can be rented for weddings, corporate events, birthdays and more.
The use of the wood-aluminium GUTMANN LARA GF curtain wall system for this project provides high glazing effect for unobstructed views of the mountain below along with creating bright light filled interiors for the guests. The wood-aluminium curtain wall system complements the sustainable theme of the resort with the silver fir façade on the interior cladded with the GUTMANN glazing system for protection against weather conditions and maintaining ideal indoor climate. The high thermal insulation of the GUTMANN LARA GF and maximum tightness ensures energy efficiency and protection from the element, even in areas of glass with multiple divisions.
The glazing system is screwed to simple rectangular laminated timber or approved microlaminated wood. The glass is completely taken up within the profile system with glass thickness from 9mm to 64 mm as standard. The GUTMANN LARA GF is available in face widths of 50mm, 60mm and 80mm with various options of RAL colours to choose from to complement any theme. The modularity in construction coupled with the sustainable materials used make GUTMANN LARA GF curtain wall system an ideal and economic solution.
