In the center of Neumarkt, Germany, an extension for the all-day school and new creche were designed by kraus.krauss Architekten GmbH. Due to the space constraint and cramped property in the old town, the two buildings were reduced and deliberately placed. In coordination with the monument protection authority, the proportions and openings were discreetly placed in the facades. The buildings were built as solid reinforced concrete structures with slurry facing masonry to maintain the style of the townscape. The reduced formal tone of the buildings presents itself as a contemporary design befitting the natural environment and urban development.
Inside the buildings, the use of high-quality materials whether for aesthetic, acoustic or thermal insulation is also reflected with the choice of GUTMANN’s wood aluminium window system MIRA contour. The large windows in GUTMANN MIRA contour with their clear angular design offers with the aluminium cladding on the exterior maximum protection against weather conditions while ensuring maximum admittance of natural light. The window system also satisfies high thermal insulation requirements for efficient energy consumption with Uf value of 0.95 W/m2K and water tightness of 9A and wind load of C3/B3.
The building was selected at the Architektouren 2020 of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects. The selected state projects are chosen to be exhibited virtually on the website of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects. The Architektouren are an annual presentation of architecture in Bavaria, where high-quality plans and their realised results from the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and urban planning can be experienced. The architects and their clients provide information about the objects and inform interested visitors on site.
