A common goal
Protecting the environment with innovative technologies, saving our resources, improving the quality of life and at the same time operating more efficiently: This is what A|U|F stands for, a cooperation of system houses, processors and suppliers in the aluminium industry. A|U|F was founded in 1994 and reactivated as an association in 2010. It is an association supported by German metal construction companies, system houses and other companies that organises a closed recycling loop for aluminium in the window, door and façade sectors.
For sustainable and responsible action
Aluminium scrap from production and dismantled elements is reused: old aluminium windows, doors, façades and corresponding composite products such as wood-aluminium windows become new products. In 2021, 75,000 tonnes of aluminium were recycled in this way. The material remains within the European Community and its recycling system; there is no export outside Europe. This contributes to strengthening the European economic area. This process also fulfils the requirements of the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act and the Resource Efficiency Programme (ProgRess) of the German government. With targeted educational work, the A|U|F provides information about the advantages of the valuable and ecologically compatible building material aluminium and those of the A|U|F cycle. The activities of the A|U|F are not aimed at making a profit.
